Ibadan Stampede: Tinubu Mourns Victims, Orders Thorough Investigation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede at a children’s funfair in Ibadan, Oyo State, which claimed several lives and left many injured.

According to reports, 35 minors were confirmed dead a day after the incident.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Oyo State, particularly to the grieving families who lost their children in the unfortunate tragedy.

“President Tinubu has urgently directed the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

“The President extends his deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Oyo State, as well as to the bereaved families mourning the loss of their loved ones.

“In this moment of grief, President Tinubu stands in solidarity with the affected families and prays that the Almighty God grants peace to the souls of those who have departed,” the statement read.

The President emphasized the importance of determining whether negligence or deliberate actions contributed to the incident, ensuring accountability and transparency in the investigation.

Additionally, Tinubu called on the Oyo State Government to take every necessary step to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies.
